a simple sock with just enough to keep it interesting

This sock features calf shaping after the ribbing which transitions into gentle bias shaping through the leg and continues into a bias heel flap. The gusset decreases are placed on top of the vamp and the arch is shaped just to keep it interesting until the toe decreases. The added bonus of all this shaping is that it creates a snugger-than-stockinette-stitch foot. The knitter gets to stay interested and the wearer gets a snug fitting sock, all the hallmarks of a favorite pattern.

Yarn
approximately 320 yds fingering weight yarn
(Sample shown used 1 skein Colinette Jitterbug)

tapestry needle

practice makes perfect

Just as cursive is a mystery to those who have yet to master it, color work seems daunting to knitters who have yet to give it a try. In reality this stitch pattern is created one color at a time using slipped stitches and mosaic knitting techniques to make it appear more complicated than it really is.

You will need to know how to read knitting charts, or be willing to attempt them, as the stitch pattern is not written out line by line.

Yarn
350 yds fingering yarn (175 yds/50g each color)
(Sample shown used 1 skein each Koigu Premium Merino)
Note: If taller or longer socks are desired, more yarn is needed.

Needles & Notions
size 1.5 US/2.5mm circular or double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
tapestry needle
scrap yarn
spare circular or double-pointed needles a size or two smaller

Finished Size
7.5″ to fit an 8″ circumference foot when measured at its widest part

Gauge
8.5 sts = 1″

a spicy lace pattern with decorative charm

The Chile Ristra Socks have a lace pattern that transitions from the cuff down the leg then onto the heel and into the toes. The pattern includes options for a garter or chevron cuff as well as a plain or patterned toe, ensuring that an experienced lace knitter will not have a chance to become bored and an intermediate lace knitter will find lots of opportunity to refine their skills!

The lace is only charted, so you will need to know how to read knitting charts, or be willing to attempt them, as the stitch pattern is not written out line by line.

Yarn
350 (350, 560) yds heavy (medium, light) fingering yarn
(Samples shown used 2 skeins Koigu Painters Palette Premium Merino, 1 skein Mountain Colors Bearfoot, and 1 skein Schaeffer Anne)

Needles & Notions
size 2.5 US/3mm (1.5 US/2.5mm, 0 US/2mm) circular or double-pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
stitch markers
tapestry needle

Finished Size
7.5″ to fit an 8″ circumference foot when measured at its widest part

Gauge
7 sts = 1″ on 2.5 US/3mm
8.5 sts = 1″ on 1.5 US/2.5mm
